5 great trends from the spring runways

Now that we’re halfway through February, it won’t be long until spring arrives. Not only will this mean longer days and more sunshine, you’ll also have the perfect reason to update your wardrobe.

In order to do this, you need to know what trends are coming into fashion for spring. Here are some of our favourites that we can’t wait to wear:

Pleats

A great way to add texture to your outfit for SS16 is by including pleats. The winter season saw large pleats become popular, but this season is all about small, neat styles that will add plenty of movements to any style.

Pleats work well with heavy materials to create a structured look, as well as light fabrics to result in a flowing style that is ideal for long skirts and dresses. They are ideal for outfits that make use of single shades, as the texture helps to break them up a bit.

To really pull pleats off, avoid bold prints and too many contrasting fabrics, as they can make an outfit look too over the top. Instead, keep the rest of your ensemble simple to really help the pleats stand out.

Tassels

Another great way to add texture to your wardrobe for spring is to wear tasselled items. Whether you’re dressing for day or night tassels add texture and movement to any look.

You can feature them throughout your clothing, accessories or even jewellery to add another element to your look. Tassels work with patterns, neutral shades and bright colours as they are such a versatile design feature.

Items like our Yellow Gold Overlay Tassel Hook Earrings are a great choice this spring for an on-trend style. Team them with a black dress for evening or a 1970s-inspired patterned look for the day.

Orange

Sunshine shades are always a popular choice for the warmer months and this year is no exception. Create a bright and bold look for SS16 by adding some orange tones to your wardrobe.

There are plenty of ways you can wear orange, tailoring the colour to your personal preferences, You can either go all out by opting for a bold orange dress or create a subtle look by wearing the colour throughout accessories, jewellery and makeup.

Orange eye shadow and lipstick are going to be big for spring, as will jewellery like our Orange Ethiopian Bracelet. You can wear any of these options will softer colours or even alongside other orange pieces for a bright, statement look.

Pastels

Not surprisingly, pastels are going to be part of spring fashions this year. We know that pastel shades come back year after year for spring and summer, but we can’t help but love them each time they do.

Soft ice cream shades are supremely flattering for everyone and allow you to wear numerous colours throughout one outfit without having to go too bright. Whether you like cool shades of mint and aqua or prefer to go warm with pink and peach, you really can’t fail with pastels.

This year, why not mix up your pastel look and be brave by wearing an unusual pastel shade on your lips or as an eyeliner? Team this with pastel jewellery – like our Iliana 18K Yellow Gold Pink Sapphire Stud Earrings – to keep this trend totally modern.

Off-the-shoulder

Our final favourite trend for SS16 has to be off the shoulder styles. Celebs have already started wearing this look in several different ways, helping to add a different touch to outfits and show some skin in an elegant way.

You can wear off-the-shoulder styles in Bardot designs, opt for one-shoulder looks, go strapless or wear tops that have cut-outs over the shoulders. Designers have shown this trend in numerous ways, meaning you can really make it your own.

Whatever trend you want to wear this spring, make sure you have the jewellery to match by keeping an eye on what we have new in.
