5 ways to accessorise the glitter trend

Whether it be glittery makeup, dazzling clothing or sparkling jewellery, the glitter trend is what’s hot right now.

At the Giambattista Valli AW16 catwalk show, Gigi Hadid’s glitter brows were the centre of attention. And that wasn’t the only glitter trend this Paris Fashion Week, with make-up artist Keri Blair styling models with superslick glitter lip liner.

Here we take a look at five ways to accessorise the glitter trend this season.

The sparkling clutch

When making a glittery statement, it’s important to remember to keep it simple. Going overboard could clash with your outfit and make you appear like a glitter fairy, unless of course it’s the fairy look you’re going for!

For a minimal style which will make your outfit appear classy and timeless, add a glittery clutch bag. Both small clutches and sparkling purses are in season right now and are the perfect items to take with you to an evening meal or elegant cocktail gathering.

Our Champagne Glitter Clutch Bag with a removable chain strap is not only practical, but will add a quirky and feminine edge to androgynous 90s look.

Statement eyes

Make a statement with some bold, glitter eye makeup – it’s often a lot easier than you may think.

Your makeup routine doesn’t have to be much different. Simply apply your eye makeup as usual but hold off on the eyeliner and mascara. Either apply glitter shadow around the inner socket, or at the outer eyelid (both doesn’t always work as well).

Use your finger to gently blend the glitter into your base eyeshadow. Then add another sprinkle but this time dab the glitter until it sets. All you have to do now is apply your eyeliner and mascara and you’re ready to party!

Shimmering glow

When living in the UK in the wintery cold months, which let’s face it, is pretty much all year round, it’s impossible to maintain a real natural tan. In fact, it’s hard enough in the British summer, let alone winter.

So how can we keep a glowing tan all year round, which adds a little shimmer to your look? Get your hands on some shimmering moisturising fake tan. This will not only ensure that you are glowing but it will add a glimmer of sparkle to your skin which isn’t too OTT.

Alternatively, after applying regular tan, once it’s all set and dry, try some shimmering body powder and apply to your arms and chest, just like you would with bronzer or blusher.

Glistening garms

To be the boldest of the bold, go all out with a glitter dress, teamed with a pair of black slip-on heels. Or how about a glittery skirt with a plain crop top, or a sparking blazer or cardigan with the little black dress?

Dolce & Gabbana took a fairytale approach with their AW2016 collection, sticking to their signature shapes but adding a little glitter and featuring the blue lurex glitter dress – a staple item for the coming months.

Glittery clothing is perfect for evening wear as it sparkles and gleams in dimmer lighting, creating a glamorous look.

Twinkling nails

Forget nail art, glitter nails are brilliant! And they compliment sparkling jewellery perfectly. Gold, silver and other metallic colours are the main shades in fashion at the moment, and are great for jazzing up any look.

Our Elegant Touch Glitter Nails Twinkle Twinkle are an easier and cheaper solution to getting your nails done professionally, and they look just as good!

When it comes to taking your glitter nail paint off, be sure to soak your nails for a little while as it can be difficult to remove. Once you’ve done this, massage some cuticle oil into your base and add some nail strengthener, to ensure your nails are in the best condition.
