This Monday (May 2nd) saw one of the biggest events in the world of fashion. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala (Met Gala) took place in New York and we are still reeling from the stunning looks that glided over the red carpet.
The theme for the event this year was slightly futuristic, with guests being told to dress in outfits suitable for Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology. This resulted in a mix of interesting and alternative fashions.
While some looks were more out there than others, some celebs managed to rock the theme and still look elegant. One star who shone in particular at the event was Girls actress Allison Williams.
The 28-year-old walked the red carpet with her husband and opted for a full-length gown. The trumpet-style dress showed off her slim figure and combined classic fashion with futuristic detailing.
While the dress featured a typical floral design with some three-dimensional elements, the soft silver-blue colour of the fabric gave it a subtle space-age feel. The gown had a one-shoulder design and also featured a small cut-out on one side of the waist resulting in an attractive asymmetrical look.
Although Allison opted to keep her makeup pretty classic – defined brows, subtle eyeliner flicks and red lips – she framed her face with an unusual pair or statement earrings. They featured seven suspended bars of silver that looked almost like they were floating around her face in a ladder-like formation.
To increase the bling in her ensemble, Allison also opted for glittering diamond hair combs. A number of other celebrities also chose to wear statement hair accessories, suggesting that they are going to be a must-have for SS16.
The finishing touch of Allison’s ensemble was her steampunk-style nails, which featured mini cogs and gold detailing.
We definitely think she stole the show!
