Celebs bring the bling on the Emmy red carpet

We've missed awards season over the last few months, especially after all the glitter of the BAFTAs and Oscars. This is why we were so excited by last night's (Sunday September 20th) Emmys and the opportunities they created for spying on some celeb fashion.

There was certainly a lot of glamour to be seen as the stars hit the red carpet for the awards in Los Angeles yesterday. While there was a huge variety of styles and colours when it came to celeb dresses, there was certainly one trend that proved to be hugely popular: glitter.

Sparkle certainly seemed to be the must-have embellishment at the Emmy's, with it being featured across loads of completely different styles. This is great news for those who love a bit of bling.

So how should you be wearing glitz this season? We're taking cues from our favourite stars at last night's award show:

Sofia Vergara

Our favourite Modern Family actress always wows when she steps onto the red carpet and last night was no difference. Choosing a classic silhouette that showcased her curves flawlessly, Sofia looked glamorous as well as gorgeous.

Her dress was a strapless, floor-length number that hugged her figure in a mermaid style. It featured a gorgeous silver shade that was highlighted through intricate beading throughout, which added texture and sparkle.

The detail kept her ensemble interesting without going over the top and was the ultimate finishing touch to the metallic fabric.

She completed her look with smoky eye makeup, loose waves, statement earrings and a number of bracelets. Her jewellery was the perfect finishing touch and created a lovely cohesive style.

Kerry Washington

Kerry was definitely channelling a touch of Olivia Pope in her ensemble for the Emmys. The actress looked every inch the fashionista in her chainmail-inspired dress and seemed ready to walk the catwalk rather than the red carpet.

Her Marc Jacobs dress was a mixture of 1920s flapper, armour and futuristic style, which may sound odd but it definitely worked.

Kerry wore a bodysuit under the subtly sheer gown, which featured head to toe sequins and a racy thigh split. The three-quarter length sleeves worked perfectly with padded shoulders that featured a lot of detail, while the larger silver and gold sequin design on the bottom of the dress created a lot of movement.

The sequins ensured the dress had a lot of texture and that Kerry shone every time she moved. This was definitely a case of go glitzy or go home!

The Scandal star also kept her makeup soft and subtle, while her hair was put up in a 1920s-inspired loose bob. Her only jewellery was three white gold rings, which worked perfectly with the dress.

If you're going for glamour this season, it looks like sparkle is a must. Team your dress with some of our stunning diamond jewellery for the ultimate look that is chock full of glamour.
