Meet Yi Shi, The Jewellery Channel’s merchandise planner. Yi has made her mark during her one and a half years at TJC. With over 6 years in the fashion industry Yi has developed a sharp eye for spotting key fashion trends and works closely with the buying team ensuring you stay ahead of the game when it comes to fashion jewellery.
So we grabbed Yi and asked her to find a piece of jewellery that we can give to you at a great price. She came up with a stunning pebble necklace in gold and silver. While we had Yi for a few minutes we took the opportunity to find a little bit more about our resident fashionista.
So you picked out our latest Deal of the Week. What made you choose these necklaces? I love to mix metals; it lends a really edgy feel to any look. These necklaces are perfect for daytime work wear – add to a shift dress and you have instant feminine charm. For a night on the town, they’ll be equally amazing when paired with skinny jeans a fabulous blouse.
Describe your style. I like simplicity and I love a feminine look, so you’ll always find an elegant girly twist to whatever I wear.
Biggest style mistakes? I’ve always been interested in fashion and in high school I loved to collect glamorous Japanese glossy magazines. I loved the free spirited street fashion of Tokyo, and I tried (note the word tried) to emulate it, wearing every colour known to man all at once – I looked like a moving painting, not a good look.
What inspires your style? I’m an avid magazine reader and at TJC we get all the latest fashion glossys – so these are an obvious place to find out what’s on trend and hot right now. I do spend a fair amount of time scouring the web too; my favourites are lookbook.nu and Adorn Insight. I also look to other people, I love some of our presenters’ looks – Gemma, Laura and Anoushka are great, and I’ve stolen their style once or twice.
Who is your biggest inspiration? Olivia Palermo, Stella McCartney and Alexa Chung.
Favourite piece of jewellery? Well other than my Deal of the Week (obviously) – my best friend gave me a fabulous little vintage bracelet, its gem studded and really pretty. It’s my lucky bracelet, I got the job at TJC when I wore it for my interview.
