Golden girls

Here at The Jewellery Channel we strive to make sure you are in the know! Today it’s “Gold Day” on TV. Gold is très chic and uber glamorous so we’re making sure you are ahead of the game.

There’s been no shortage of glimmer and glitziness over the last few months. It’s been “Award Show” central, what with the Golden Globes, The Oscars, BAFTAs amongst others. One of the key trends that really stood out for us was gold jewellery, and lots of it. And come spring and summer (yes, we’d wish they would hurry up too) we’re going to see oodles more gold descend onto the high street.

Here, Nicole Kidman is rocking her gold jewellery, the multi strand bracelet is to die for; her earrings sweep you off into revolutionary Russia – so baroque. The final golden touch is genius, a brooch in her hair – it’s all in the detailing!

Nicole Kidman goes for gold

Yellow gold is red hot this season! And oh so chic, giving an instant glamorous twist to any outfit. It’s here to stay, but to be fair, it didn’t really go anywhere. It’s been on trend for centuries really; Cleopatra of ancient Egypt adored it. You can read a little more about the history of gold here, but for now we want to look at how it’s hitting the fashion trends now.

Keep it simple – If you don’t want to do this stunning yellow metal on a fashionista’s scale, just don one piece, earrings or a ring perhaps. Pair it with the colours of the season – check out our Pantone Spring 2013 post for inspiration and you’ll get a simply stunning look!

Gold accents – So you don’t have to wear gold only, what about turquoise or some other bright colourful stone and accent it with gold. Coloured gemstones are really hot right now, so wearing both trends is sure to make sure you are ahead of the game.

Mix and match – Who says you can’t wear gold and silver together? Pair the two metals for a really fun look. Careful though, don’t wear a gold ring and a silver necklace… the way to do it is a gold and silver necklace, or a gold and silver ring. Got it?

Gold, isn’t that expensive? Just because it’s gold doesn’t mean it has to cost the world. You can still get the look by going for goldtone or gold overlay jewellery. At TJC we have something to suit everyone’s budget, so never fear you’ll be able to work the look to its max. Shop our goldtone jewellery here

So forget the Hermes scarves, the Louis Vitton handbags, gold is on the top of everyone’s wish list right now. Pure luxury at its glittering best.  How do you feel about the gold trend, is it for you?
