How to rock Wimbledon white this summer

Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know that the Wimbledon Tennis Championships are taking place.

The Grand Slam conjures up a lot of ideas beyond the obvious sport one, with sunshine, Pimms and strawberries and cream being closely tied to the competition.

However, the tournament also means something to fashion; after all, you'll be seeing a lot of all-white ensembles hit the court.

While you may not play tennis or even enjoying watching it, you can't deny that these white outfits look fab for summer. This is why many people taking inspiration from Wimbledon to deck out their summer wardrobes.

So how do you wear an all-white outfit and really pull it off?

Mix and match textures

If you're wearing a look that features white throughout, you need to break it up a bit. This is where textures come in really handy.

Rather than just teaming several white outfits together that feature the same type of fabric, mix and match to include patterns and create contrasts.

Tricks like teaming white denim with cotton or chiffon creates a really effective style that can create the illusion of slightly different shades despite all being one tone. This adds another dimension to your ensemble that keeps it fresh and stops it falling flat.

Add details

Wearing an all-white outfit doesn't mean that you can't include some details. Including prints or pattern over certain areas of your ensemble helps to break it up and keep the look fresh and interesting.

You don't even need to add a lot of detail, as subtle print over a small area – such as on the front of a top or your skirt's hemline – can make a big difference.

When it comes to colour for detailing, even slightly off-white shades can make an impact within an all-white outfit. However, you can also quite bold with the tones if you want to make more of statement, as bright shades will really stand out.

For a fully complementary look, choose gold or silver detailing, which will create a really on-trend outfit.

While colour in this way may not be allowed on the tennis courts, it is definitely okay for including in your SS15 wardrobe.

Team with jewellery

If you don't want to add small amounts of colour or detail throughout your actual clothing, you can use jewellery to lift your outfit and serve as the finishing touch.
