January fashion: How to style cashmere

There’s no denying that the month of January is pretty bleak, but while the skies may be grey, that’s not to say you can’t cheer yourself up with a fresh winter wardrobe.

Of course, the summer months bring an influx of lightweight, cotton garments that allow our skin to breathe and feel good, but now that winter is upon us, the cold weather gives us every reason to pull out the cosy knitwear.

There’s nothing more liberating than throwing on a warm knitted sweater that’s totally on-trend and shields you from the blustery winds. One style that we’re loving in particular this season is cashmere. This soft fabric presents an air of luxury and high-fashion that instantly makes us feel chic, no matter where we’re heading to.

Here are a few ways to wear this season’s most snug cashmere style:

With tailored trousers

Come winter, you’ll probably find yourself reaching for skirts and dresses less, and more towards tailored trousers. These provide a flattering fit for all body sizes and can be dressed up or down easily depending on the occasion.

Team your tailored trousers with an oversized cashmere jumper, complete with a roll-neck style. This will give a cool, laidback vibe, making you look effortlessly stylish. Add a pair of flat, slip-on shoes to complete your look and add a Parisian style twist to your ensemble.

With a statement necklace

When it comes to accessorising your winter look, there’s no going wrong with a statement necklace. The addition of a bold, blingy necklace can instantly transform any outfit from minimal to outstanding – and in no time at all!

Something like our Peach and Pearl Statement Necklace will look amazing worn over a collared blouse, with a camel-coloured cashmere coat draped over the top. The delicate, iridescent sheen of this necklace makes it perfect for parties too, not to mention stand out on a dismal January day.

With a knitted bobble hat

Layering up in winter is key, so we’re ditching the adage ‘less is more’ and replacing it with the saying ‘more is more’. Whether you’re wearing a cashmere cardigan, jumper or scarf, throw on a knitted bobble hat complete with fluffy pom-pom. We have a stunning collection of scarves and ponchos that will serve as the perfect accompaniment to your cashmere number and knitted hat.

You may choose to wear a hat in the same shade as your cashmere piece, or use contrasting colours such as grey and sky blue, to add a little brightness to your look.

Style your hair in loose waves or French plaits before popping on your bobble hat to really look on-point this season.

With patent boots

As well as having a cashmere garment in your wardrobe, a new pair of boots is a must. Chelsea style boots have become highly popular in recent years and aren’t set to disappear any time soon. So why not flaunt a pair of patent ones?

These will look ultra smart and totally on-trend when worn with a cashmere scarf or jumper. Complete your look with a beautiful handbag. We have a gorgeous range of bags to choose from – from small clutches to oversized shoppers. View the collection here.
