Spook and sparkle: Halloween beauty trends

The spookiest celebration of the year is just a stone’s throw away, so it’s time to start planning what you’re going to be wearing this Halloween (October 31st). Even if you’re not going trick or treating, you can still get into the scary spirit by dressing up with your friends at home.

Will you transform yourself into a wicked witch? Or brighten the night in a bold pumpkin ensemble? Whatever outfit you choose to flaunt, you’ve got to make sure your makeup fits the part.

When it comes to Halloween beauty trends, there really are no boundaries, meaning you can be as creative and gruesome as you wish. Here are a few you might like to try for yourself:

Hair glitter

While you will want to create a weird and wonderful makeup look, beauty doesn’t just stop at your face. Why not make your hair Halloween-ready too?

For those who love to sparkle and shine, hair glitter is the perfect choice. All you need is a can of glitter hairspray in a colour of your choice. If you have brunette or auburn hair, silver or red glitter will certainly make a statement. If your hair is blonde, go all out with blue or green glitter spray.

You may wish to spray glitter in the whole of your hair or just in one section to create a streak of sparkle. No matter how you decide to use it, your hair will be the biggest treat of the night.

Spider lashes

The term ‘spider lashes’ is one that makes beauty enthusiasts recoil in horror, but isn’t that the exact response you want to create this Halloween?

Bring spider lashes into your makeup look by either investing in a pair of extravagant false eyelashes or coating lashings of mascara onto your natural eyelashes until you have achieved your desired effect.

Metallic lipstick

Lipstick is perhaps the icing on the cake when it comes to finishing off your beauty look. But if you normally reach for your favourite shade of red, swap it for something that’s a lot more in-keeping with the Halloween theme. Dark green or midnight blue lipsticks with a frosty, metallic finish are great for creating a gothic, vampy look and are sure to make you feel super fierce.
