TJC’s favourite celebrity fashion moments of 2014

While we may all be looking forward to all the lovely things and new trends that 2015 has in store for us, we aren't quite ready to say a proper goodbye to 2014.

So many great things happened last year, from Ellen Degeneres' epic celebrity selfie to the last ever episode of How I Met Your Mother being aired, 2014 had some high points.

As well as events, there were also some fab fashion choices made throughout the year, which we're sure will continue to impact how we dress in the year.

Here are TJC's favourite celebrity fashion moments of 2014.

Lupita Nyong'o at the Oscars

Not only did Lupita Nyong'o win the Oscar for best supporting actress in 2014, beating the likes of Jennifer Lawrence and Julia Roberts, she also managed to win in the fashion stakes when it came to the gown she wore to the awards ceremony.

Rocking up in a soft, pastel blue Prada dress, Lupita looked understated and totally gorgeous. The colour worked beautiful with her skin tone, while the style was simple and elegant.

With a bit of a Grecian feel to it, the dress had thick straps that plunged downwards to form a deep V neck. It was then cinched in at the waist to create an hourglass figure and ensure the dress didn't totally swamp Lupita's slim frame.

The true statement of the dress was made by the skirt, which fell to the floor in soft pleats, which, when teamed with the pastel shade and light material, created a beautiful flowing appearance. Adding a lot of movement to the look with very little effort, Lupita managed to stand out for all the right reason among the over-the-top glittering gowns of the evening.

To finish the look off, she wore a simple gold spiral bracelet, statement stud earrings and a shiny slim headband, making her look even more like a Greek goddess.

This was definitely the moment when we all realised that pastel colours can be worn throughout sophisticated ensembles as well as summer dresses.

Kendall on the catwalk

As well as celebrities walking the red carpet, some also walked the catwalk with the most notable being Kendall Jenner. Best known for her role in the reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians, Kendall showed she really had grown up by stomping the catwalk with some of the best models in the world.

She made headlines when she appeared in the Marc Jacobs runway show in February wearing a sheer top and cropped trousers. While some may have initially viewed the move in a negative way, Kendall soon showed us that she was a serious model, showcasing her high fashion look in shows for Givenchy and Chanel.

We're sure Kendall is going to do great things in the fashion world as well as entertaining us on the TV.

Emma Watson at the Noah premier

Sometimes less really is more, something Emma Watson proved at the London premier of her 2014 film Noah. The Harry Potter star wowed onlookers in a stunning white dress that perfectly summed up her approach to fashion.

The halter neck dress had a simple design that showed off Emma's slight frame, while a thigh-high slit on one side allowed her to display her legs as she walked. Teaming the dress with white stilettos, Emma really was a vision at the event.

Keeping the simple theme going, the actress opted for slim gold bracelets and a couple of rings, which worked perfectly with her white dress. She also swept her hair into an easy style and opted for natural makeup, all of which worked to create an elegant look that had us all feeling a bit jealous.

As the year went on, Emma proved time and again exactly why she has become a fashion icon.

We're now looking forward to see what 2015 has in store for fashion!
