What to wear for festive activities

The festive season is upon us, which means Christmas Day is just around the corner. If you aren’t feeling the Christmas spirit just yet though, there are a number of things you can do in the run-up to the big day that will certainly set you on your way.

While you may already have your outfits planned for Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, it’s time to start getting your garments ready for some festive activities.

Here are a few of our favourites:

Ice skating

Now that the temperatures have dropped outside, you will have noticed many ice skating rinks popping up across various towns and cities. Heading out for an afternoon or evening of ice skating with your friends and family will no doubt set your spirits high, but what are you going to wear?

Comfort is key while on the ice, but that’s not to say you have to scrimp on style. We recommend a pair of skinny jeans, a loose-fit buttoned blouse and a longline coat complete with faux fur collar. Make sure you don’t forget a pair of extra thick socks and gloves!

Christmas markets

If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit, it’s the Christmas markets. From stalls playing Christmas songs and selling festive trinkets to mulled wine and hot pancakes at your request, visiting the Christmas markets should be on everyone’s to-do list this year.

Since most markets are outdoors, it is advised to wrap up warm. This season, over-the-knee boots are totally on-trend. Pair yours with woolly tights, an A-line skirt and a festive jumper, and you’re good to go.

The theatre

During December through to January, many theatres host Christmas performances that are well worth watching with your loved ones. What’s more, an evening at the theatre gives you the perfect excuse to put your gladrags on and glam up for the night ahead.

There’s no going wrong with a little black dress, so step into a long evening gown that flatters you in all the right places. Don’t forget to take a coat or jacket for your journeys to and from the theatre. A faux fur coat or boucle jacket will complement any LBD, as well as enhance the glamour of your ensemble.
